About the stadium
Selhurst Park stadium opened on 30 August 1924, designed by Scottish architect Archibald Leitch. It sits in a residential neighborhood in south London, in the borough of Croydon, and its four stands are close to the pitch with low roofs that bounce the noise back in — which makes it one of the toughest grounds in the league for a visiting team. Capacity today is 25,194 seats. In June 2026, demolition began on the Main Stand ahead of its rebuild across three tiers — 13,500 seats instead of 5,200 — a project of more than £200 million that will raise the stadium's capacity to about 34,000 by early 2029. Construction is being carried out around the existing structure, and the stadium continues operating throughout the period.
