אלה ההופעות הקרובות שפתוחות להזמנה: כרטיסים להופעה של מוריסי בנאשוויל.
Steven Patrick Morrissey is an English singer and songwriter born in 1959. He became famous as the lead singer of the Smiths (The Smiths) and as its lyricist. The band was active between 1982 and 1987, and since it broke up he has had a successful solo career. His music is identified with his baritone voice and with lyrics dealing with loneliness, longing, self-mockery and black humor.
He was born in Old Trafford (Old Trafford) to a working-class family of Irish Catholic immigrants, and grew up in nearby Stretford (Stretford). As a child he loved literature, the British social realism of "kitchen sink" and the pop music of the 60s. Before the band he wrote for the music press. In the early 80s he published books on music and film, including a book on The New York Dolls (The New York Dolls) in 1981 and James Dean Is Not Dead in 1983.
In 1982 Morrissey formed the Smiths with guitarist Johnny Marr (Johnny Marr), and they were joined by drummer Mike Joyce (Mike Joyce) and bassist Andy Rourke (Andy Rourke). The first single, "Hand in Glove", was released in 1983, and the debut album, The Smiths, was released in 1984 and reached number two on the UK chart. The album featured "Suffer Little Children", written inspired by the Moors murders, a case that deeply affected Morrissey in his childhood in Manchester (Manchester).
After the debut album the band released three more studio albums: Meat Is Murder in 1985, The Queen Is Dead in 1986 and Strangeways, Here We Come in 1987. "How Soon Is Now?" and "Panic" were played a lot on radio around the world, and the song "The Headmaster Ritual" from 1985 deals with the corporal punishment Morrissey suffered as a student. On stage he stood out with his quiff that became his trademark and with witty, sharp lyrics, and deliberately avoided rock machismo. Personal disputes between him and Marr led to the band's breakup in 1987.
His solo career began in 1988 with Viva Hate, which entered the top ten of the UK albums chart. Kill Uncle from 1991, Your Arsenal from 1992 and Vauxhall and I from 1994 also entered the top ten of the UK albums chart. Instead of Marr, Morrissey wrote in those years mainly with Alain Whyte (Alain Whyte) and Boz Boorer (Boz Boorer).
After Southpaw Grammar in 1995 and Maladjusted in 1997 he moved to Los Angeles (Los Angeles) and took a break from music between 1998 and 2003. In 2004 he returned with You Are the Quarry, a successful comeback album. After it came Ringleader of the Tormentors in 2006, Years of Refusal in 2009, World Peace Is None of Your Business in 2014, Low in High School in 2017, California Son in 2019, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain in 2020 and Make-Up Is a Lie in 2026.
In 2013 he published an autobiography, and in 2015 his first novel, List of the Lost. He is considered a formative figure in the growth of indie pop, indie rock and Britpop. In a 2006 poll by the BBC's Culture Show program he was voted the second greatest living British cultural icon. Throughout his career he has stirred controversy with his outspoken views, including support for vegetarianism and animal rights and criticism of the royal family.
