The Santiago Bernabéu opened in 1947, and after the massive renovation it's no longer just a stadium — it's an enclosed arena under a retractable roof, with a video screen that wraps 360 degrees around the entire bowl, and natural grass stored in an underground greenhouse four floors deep and laid over the pitch only on matchdays. The club has not published an official capacity — Madrid's tourism portal lists 80,242 seats, so the accurate figure is about 80,000. Four stands: Lateral Oeste and Este along the touchlines, Fondo Sur, at the bottom of which is the singing section, and Fondo Norte, where away fans sit at the top. The historic attendance record — 129,690 spectators at the European Cup semifinal against Milan, 1956, on the way to the first of five consecutive cups.

Tickets to a Real Madrid match are sold in stages, and open sale opens only about a week before the match. More than 60,000 seats at the Bernabéu are held by club members (socios), so only a small portion is left for open sale — and it opens in stages: first the socios, then the Madridista card tiers, and only at the end the general public, usually just 6 to 8 days before the match. All tickets are digital, in the club's app. For the big matches, the open sale evaporates within minutes. You get to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium via Nuevos Ministerios — by free shuttle or a 15-minute walk. Note — the 'Santiago Bernabéu' metro station is closed for extensive renovation, at least until the end of 2026: the section of Line 10 that serves it is out of service, and in its place runs a free EMT shuttle called SE10, every 3 to 5 minutes, with stops at Nuevos Ministerios, in front of the stadium itself, at Cuzco and at Plaza de Castilla — no ticket needed to board. The simple route: get to Nuevos Ministerios (where metro lines 6 and 8 meet suburban trains) and from there take the shuttle or walk 15 flat minutes along Paseo de la Castellana. Is there parking at the Bernabéu Stadium?
At Santiago Bernabéu Stadium there is a parking garage with 1,115 spaces on matchdays, but it fills up. Street parking all around it falls within Madrid's regulated SER zone — blue for turnover, green for residents — and on matchdays it's almost impossible. The solution: book a spot in advance at one of the nearby parking garages (Saba at Nuevos Ministerios, Castellana 123 and similar) through parking apps, and leave the loops around the block to locals.
