Don McLean (born in 1945) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known for American Pie from 1971, an approximately eight-and-a-half-minute folk-rock song that became a cultural touchstone. His other songs include Vincent and Castles in the Air, and And I Love You So was also recorded by Elvis Presley and Perry Como. In 2000, Madonna recorded a version of American Pie, and in 2004, McLean was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In Europe, McLean is performing seven concert dates in May 2027: Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on May 11, Waterfront Hall in Belfast, 3Arena in Dublin, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Bristol Beacon, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and the tour finale at Royal Albert Hall in London on May 22. Before that, in November 2026, he is performing in California, Arizona, and New York State.
McLean's show is an evening of folk songs and storytelling lyrics, culminating, of course, in American Pie, which the audience sings along to from beginning to end. Venues like Royal Albert Hall give an evening like this a special atmosphere.
