The Riyadh Air Metropolitano is the home of Atlético Madrid, and is located in the San Blas-Canillejas district in the east of Madrid, Spain. The stadium opened in 2017 on the site of the old "La Peineta" stadium, has 70,460 seats, and is one of the most modern and largest facilities in Europe. In 2019 it hosted the Champions League final.
The stadium is located in the east of Madrid, near the M-40 highway. The most convenient way to get there is by metro — Estadio Metropolitano station on Line 7, right next to the stadium itself. In addition, city bus lines and parking lots operate nearby. It is recommended to arrive about an hour before kick-off, especially for Champions League matches and derbies.
Over the years the stadium has had several commercial names: Wanda Metropolitano when it opened, then Cívitas Metropolitano, and since October 2024 — Riyadh Air Metropolitano, following a naming rights deal with the Saudi airline Riyadh Air. It is important to clarify: this is a sponsorship name only. The stadium itself is in Madrid, Spain, and all matches and events take place there.
Beyond Atlético Madrid's home matches in the Spanish league, the Copa del Rey and European competitions, the stadium also hosts national team matches, international sporting events and huge concerts by top-tier artists.
