Note before you book a flight: in the 2026/27 season Real Betis isn't playing at their home stadium, Benito Villamarín. The stadium is closed for the rebuild of the Preferencia stand, which began in late July 2025, alongside an interior and exterior renovation of the other stands and the addition of a perimeter roof. Until it's finished, all of Betis's home matches are held at Estadio La Cartuja in northern Seville — the city's Olympic stadium, with an official capacity of 70,000 seats. The club kept the familiar stand names there — Gol Sur, Gol Norte, Preferencia and Fondo — and installed the lower tier just seven to nine meters from the pitch, to recreate Villamarín's tight, intense feel. And it's working: in the 2025/26 season, home matches drew 1,091,110 spectators, an average of 57,426 — third-highest in all of La Liga. Betis's attendance record is still held at Villamarín: 59,916 against Real Sociedad on 19 May 2024.
FAQ
How do you buy tickets for a Real Betis match?
Tickets for Real Betis matches come from single-match sale or from TikTik, not from membership. Betis is an almost entirely membership-based club. On 15 July 2026 the club announced that 55,474 of its 57,000 members had renewed — 97.3 percent — and that the membership cap at La Cartuja had risen to 57,650. That leaves only 2,176 new spots for the whole season, of which 1,413 were allocated by seniority from a waiting list open only to registered club members. For an outside fan, that's not a route in. The real route is single-match sale, which works in two stages: in the first stage you choose an area, not a seat, and the system assigns the best available spot in that area and emails it to you between three and 48 hours before the match — pairs are guaranteed to sit together. In the second stage, 24 to 48 hours before the match, a regular seat map opens for what's left. For regular league matches it's usually obtainable; for the derby against Sevilla, against Real Madrid and against Barcelona, official tickets sell out almost immediately. TikTik gets tickets for Betis matches even for matches sold out through the official channel.
How do you get to Estadio La Cartuja?
La Cartuja is reached by Renfe train on line C-2 from Santa Justa station — about a quarter of an hour. The stadium is on Isla de la Cartuja, about four kilometers north of central Seville. The cleanest route is Renfe's suburban train, line C-2, from Sevilla Santa Justa station to Estadio Olímpico station — about a quarter of an hour's ride. On Betis matchdays, the city transport company TUSSAM reinforces lines 2, C1 and C2, and travel is free after the final whistle. In addition, dedicated shuttles run from Blas Infante metro station to the stadium starting two hours before the match, and back from there to Torre Sevilla, the Barqueta bridge and the Sevilla Este neighborhood. On foot it's a 30-to-40-minute walk across the Barqueta bridge, and about a quarter hour by taxi.
Is there parking at Estadio La Cartuja?
Yes, La Cartuja has three free car parks — but you must book a space in advance. This is a real advantage: car parks P7 North, P7 South and P8 are free of charge, and booking is done online. Registration includes personal details, the car model and license plate number, and at entry you present the booking voucher along with a matching plate, so it's worth carrying ID too. The gates open four hours before the match, and bookings run out. Access is via the SE-20 highway or Plaza de Carlos III, and vehicle access to the stadium's inner ring closes 90 minutes before kick-off. A backup option at busy times: the Torre Sevilla shopping center car park, about a 45-minute walk.
How do you get from Israel to a Real Betis match?
For a Real Betis match you fly directly to Seville, or to Madrid and continue by AVE train. Two ways. The direct one: a flight to Seville itself, and from the airport you travel on TUSSAM's orange line EA bus to Santa Justa station and the city center — a journey of 35 to 50 minutes. The second, and more common: a flight to Madrid and from there Renfe's high-speed AVE train from Madrid Puerta de Atocha station to Sevilla Santa Justa station — 471 kilometers in about two and a half hours on the direct trains. Especially convenient, because Santa Justa is exactly the same station the C-2 train to the stadium departs from.
Does an Israeli need a visa to fly to the match?
No. Israelis enter Schengen-area countries visa-free for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and all that's required is a valid passport. Worth knowing what's coming: the European Union is launching the ETIAS authorization system in the last quarter of 2026. Once it takes effect, an online authorization will be required in advance, at a cost of €7, valid for three years or until the passport expires — whichever comes first. As of today the system is not active and no action is required from you. Important warning: the EU warns that many sites impersonate the official site, use the EU logo and charge inflated fees or steal passport and credit card details. There is only one official site — europa.eu/etias — and any address not on the europa.eu domain is not official.
Where's the best place to sit at a Betis match?
At La Cartuja, Betis's noisy stand is Gol Sur, where the organized fan group sits. This is the heart: that's where they lead the singing and wave flags for all ninety minutes, and the club made a point of carrying over that name and role to La Cartuja too. The other stands are Gol Norte opposite, Preferencia on the main side, and Fondo, and each is divided into three tiers: lower tier, first amphitheater and second amphitheater. The lower tier is the closest — seven to nine meters from the touchline. Away fans sit in the northeast corner, between Gol Norte and Fondo, and the allocation varies by demand; for European matches, five percent of capacity is reserved for away fans under UEFA regulations.
What's special about Real Betis?
Real Betis's anthem before kick-off is considered one of the most spine-tingling moments in Spanish football. The whole stadium sings the Real Betis anthem 'Himno del Betis' together — and that's exactly what turns a Betis match into an experience and not just a game. This crowd is among the biggest in Spain: an average of 57,426 spectators last season, third in the league, for a club that's neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona. In charge is Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini, since summer 2020 — one of the longest tenures in Spanish football — who extended his contract in November 2025 through June 2027. Under him Betis won the Copa del Rey in 2022, qualified for Europe five seasons running and reached the Conference League final in 2025.
What's Real Betis's big match in the 2026/27 season?
The big match is Real Betis's Champions League appearance, for the first time in 21 years. Fifth place in La Liga with 60 points sent Betis to the Champions League league phase — not the Europa League — thanks to the European performance spot Spain earned from its position in the UEFA rankings, meaning five Spanish clubs are playing in the top competition this season. This is Betis's first Champions League appearance in 21 years, since the 2005/06 season, and only the second in the club's history. The opponents aren't known yet — the draw is held on 27 August 2026 in Nyon, and the first matchweek runs from 8 to 10 September. In the league: the season's first home match is on Friday, 21 August 2026 against Real Sociedad — even before the matchweek-one fixture, which was pushed back to 25 August because of the World Cup. Real Madrid come to town as early as 4 September, and the big derby against Sevilla is away on 22 November 2026 and at home on 7 February 2027.
