Which stadium does Lecce play at for home games?
At Stadio Via del Mare. In the 2026/27 season, Juventus will play there on Sunday, October 25, 2026, and Inter on Friday, December 18, 2026, among others.
Can I book a package for a Lecce match?

Via del Mare Stadium — its full name is the Stadio Comunale Ettore Giardiniero — sits at the eastern edge of Lecce, on the road out of the city toward the coast at San Cataldo, which is where the name comes from. It was inaugurated on 11 September 1966 in a friendly against Spartak Moscow, with an initial capacity of 16,000, replacing an old, much smaller ground. After the club's first promotion to Serie A it was rebuilt in 1985 and expanded dramatically — to over 50,000 in the days of standing terraces — and has since been gradually reduced as it moved to numbered seating only. In 2002 it was named after Ettore Giardiniero, mayor of Lecce from 1983 to 1985, who was the one who approved the rebuild. In 2019 it underwent a full renovation of the seats, lighting and track. And right now it's in the middle of the biggest project in its history: a full roof over all the stands, funded by the 2026 Mediterranean Games funds — until now only the main west stand was covered. The roof's steel frame, about 1,700 tons, was completed in early August 2026, and the covering is due to be finished in the autumn. On capacity there are two conflicting official figures: the club publishes 31,445 on its website, and the Serie A league publishes 30,534. So we write about 31,000 rather than quoting a single figure.
FAQ
How do you get tickets to a Lecce match?
A ticket to a Lecce match is personalized, and a matching ID is checked at entry. In Italy the ticket is personalized, and at Lecce this is written explicitly in the stadium regulations: the ticket is personal, issued only after registering the buyer's name, place and date of birth and place of residence, and cannot be transferred to another person except through an official name-change process. At entry, stewards check a valid ID against the name on the ticket. There's a small detail that trips people up: purchase requires an ID showing your place of residence — the club itself states that an Italian driving licence, which has no address on it, is not accepted. For a tourist with a passport this is usually simpler, but it explains why this isn't an anonymous purchase. Sales open in stages rather than all at once: first a priority window for last season's season-ticket holders, in which you can only renew the exact same seat, and after that an open sale in which you can already switch seats. Anyone who misses the priority window may lose their seat. A name change on a ticket is done only through authorized channels and with prior club approval, and on matchday there's a service for this at the stadium box offices — but only within a set time window, and only for name changes: the box offices themselves don't sell tickets on matchday. And there's another mechanism worth knowing, because it's the one that surprises people the most: before every single match the government sports-events authority issues a decision that restricts sales by area of residence. Last season, for example, in one match the away stand was closed entirely and ticket sales were banned to residents of a whole region. This decision changes from match to match and is only published close to it — there's no way to know it in advance. Anyone entering with a ticket that isn't in their name is breaking the regulations, and the sanctions the club publishes include ejection from the stadium even mid-match, cancellation of a season ticket and a ban on buying tickets in future. TikTik gets tickets to Lecce matches at Via del Mare without waiting for a sales window to open and without depending on a decision published at the last minute.
How do you get to Via del Mare Stadium?
You get to Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce on route S16, the only one that stops at the stadium station. First the address, and honestly — there are two official versions of it: the club publishes Via Colonnello Archimede Costadura 3, 73100 Lecce, and the Serie A league publishes Viale dello Stadio. Both lead to the same place, on the road out of Lecce toward San Cataldo. Lecce's train station is at Piazzale Oronzo Massari, and it's the entry point to the city from every direction. And here's an honest note: no official source — not the club, not the city council and not the transport operator — publishes a distance or walking time from the station to the stadium, so we won't invent a figure. From the station to the stadium requires a change. On city buses there is one, single regular line that operator SGM marks in its stop index as stopping at a stop called 'Stadio': route S16, which runs along the city–San Cataldo axis. Various online guides also add routes R4 and R5 as 'stadium routes' — the operator's official index does not place them there, so we won't write them. And if you've seen anywhere 'route 32 from the station to the stadium' — no such route exists in Lecce's network. What does exist and is genuinely useful is a dedicated matchday service called 'Stadio in Bus': a special route that starts running about three hours before the match, roughly every ten minutes, stopping at about 21 stops in the city and ending right by the stadium; it pauses during the match and resumes at the end. Important caveat: the operator's last announcement about this service is from the end of August 2025, and for the 2026/27 season no new announcement has yet been published — check close to the match. On matchday the regular bus routes in the area are also diverted, starting three hours before kick-off.
Is there parking at Via del Mare Stadium?
There is no parking for the general public at Via del Mare Stadium — the lots next to it are reserved for permit holders and motorcycles. There are two parking areas adjacent to the stadium — Piazzale Rossi on the east stand side and Piazzale Adamo on the central stand side — but the practical answer for a visitor is no, there's no parking there for the general public. The latest municipal order published states that from four hours before the match, only vehicles with a disabled permit, an over-80 permit, or a service permit issued by the club itself may enter Piazzale Rossi; and at Piazzale Adamo — only authorized vehicles and motorcycles in marked areas. In addition, the roof works have actually reduced the number of spaces in both lots, and all the motorcycle spaces in one of them have been cancelled. The city council itself directs the public to more distant parking areas around the city — among them Piazza Madre Teresa di Calcutta, Piazza Modena, Piazza Napoli, Piazza San Sabino and the weekly-market area — and street parking is allowed on Viale Giovanni Paolo II, in the stretch between Via Scrimieri and Via Lecca, and only in the direction of the city center. Both the club and the city council explicitly call for using the matchday bus service instead of arriving by car, and the club's official recommendation is to be at the stadium 90 minutes before kick-off. Full transparency: all these arrangements are the last ones published, from the 2025/26 season under an active construction site. Arrangements for 2026/27 have not yet been published by either the city council or the club, so it's worth checking before you set out.
How do you get from Israel to a Lecce match?
There's no direct flight from Israel to Lecce — the route all year round is via Rome and then to Brindisi. Lecce sits in the heel of the boot, and there's no flight there. The two relevant airports are Brindisi and Bari, and here's the point most important to understand before buying a plane ticket: Brindisi has no direct flight from Israel at all. Bari does have a direct one — but it's seasonal, summer only. The direct Tel Aviv–Bari route opens in June 2026 and ends at the end of October, running twice a week, operated by Israir. That means anyone planning a match in December or January — and most home matches are exactly then — won't find a direct flight and will need a connection. Another warning: flight-comparison sites still show a Ryanair Tel Aviv–Bari flight; Ryanair itself has announced it isn't returning to Tel Aviv, and that's old information left sitting in databases. The practical route all year round is via Rome: a direct flight from Tel Aviv to Fiumicino, about three hours forty to forty-five minutes, and from there a domestic flight to Brindisi — about an hour ten minutes — or to Bari. And from Brindisi it's easiest to get there: there's a direct regional bus from the airport to Lecce, about forty minutes, about nine trips a day each way, arriving at Piazzale Carmelo Bene in Lecce (not the train station). It runs year-round — it has a separate winter timetable — but on Sundays and holidays it's run by a different company whose timetable isn't published, so check it if the match is on a Sunday. Alternative: a short bus ride to Brindisi Centrale station, and from there a direct train to Lecce in about 20 to 30 minutes. From Bari it's a whole different story: there's no direct link at all from the airport to Lecce, neither by bus nor by train — a train from inside the terminal to Bari Centrale, then a train to Lecce, in total about two and a half to three hours with two changes. So if you have a choice, Brindisi wins by a mile.
Does an Israeli need a visa to fly to the match?
No. Israelis enter Schengen-area countries visa-free for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and all that's required is a valid passport. Worth knowing what's coming: the European Union is launching the ETIAS authorization system in the last quarter of 2026. Once it takes effect, an online authorization will be required in advance, at a cost of €7, valid for three years or until the passport expires — whichever comes first. As of today the system is not active and no action is required from you. Important warning: the EU warns that many sites impersonate the official site, use the EU logo and charge inflated fees or steal passport and credit card details. There is only one official site — europa.eu/etias — and any address not on the europa.eu domain is not official.
Where's the best place to sit at Via del Mare Stadium?
At Lecce's Via del Mare, the away stand is Distinti Sud-Est, and there's no defined family stand. The layout is simple: two curvas at the ends — Curva Nord and Curva Sud; the Tribuna Centrale in the west, split into north and south and into an upper and lower tier, and it's currently the only covered stand; the Tribuna Est opposite it; and between the curvas and the Tribuna sit four Distinti areas — northwest, southwest, northeast and southeast. The away stand is Distinti Sud-Est, entered through gate number 7 — this is confirmed in four separate club matchday announcements. There's also a dedicated accessible area for people with disabilities in the lower part of the east Tribuna. And now two honest notes, because they're exactly what separates a real guide from an invented one. First: the club does not publish anywhere which stand is the ultras' or atmosphere stand. One answer keeps circulating online, but it doesn't come from any official source, so we won't write it. Second: there's no family stand and no defined quiet stand at this stadium. What does exist is an age rule: a minor under 14 cannot enter without an adult chaperone, and children under seven enter without an assigned seat. On entry: the regulations state that gates generally open two hours before the match, subject to the security committee's decisions — last season they actually opened two and a half hours before — and for this season gate times haven't yet been published and are announced in each match's ticketing notice. There's a body search and bag search at entry, including a metal detector. What's forbidden to bring in, per the official list: suitcases, cool bags and motorcycle helmets, prams and strollers, scooters and folding bikes, professional photography equipment and selfie sticks and drones (a personal camera is allowed), large binoculars, sprays and perfumes, musical instruments and megaphones without authorization, laser pointers, umbrellas except small ones, and belts with large metal buckles. For drinks: a clear plastic bottle up to half a liter is allowed, open and without its cap — glass, cans and thermoses are forbidden. And anyone who leaves the stadium after entering won't be able to come back in.
What's special about Lecce's 2026/27 season?
This is Lecce's fifth straight season in Serie A — an achievement in itself for a club from a small city in the heel of the boot, which has historically alternated between rising and falling. Eusebio Di Francesco remains on the bench, and the club announced on 17 June 2026 that his contract had been extended through the end of the 2027/28 season — meaning stability, not a transitional season. There's also a genuine Israeli angle here: midfielder Omri Gandelman joined Lecce from Belgium's KAA Gent in the winter window, on a contract until 2029 with an option for an extra year — an Israeli in the squad of a Serie A club you can watch at a home match. This summer French striker Willem Jobel arrived from Paris FC on a permanent transfer with a contract until 2030, and goalkeeper Christian Früchtl was sold to Salzburg. Behind the scenes there was a big change: Pantaleo Corvino, the man who ran the club's sporting side for 13 years, left his role, and responsibility passed to sporting director Stefano Trinchera, who extended his contract through 2029. And a practical angle for a visitor booking a flight: the stadium is in the middle of the biggest roofing project in its history. The roof frame has been completed, and finishing the work is due in autumn — meaning the first home matches will be played while the site is still active. No official announcement has been made about closed sectors or reduced capacity for those matches, so we won't claim either way — it's just worth checking close to the match.
What's Lecce's big match in the 2026/27 season?
Lecce's big home match at the opening of the 2026/27 season is against Roma, at the end of August. Let's start with what won't happen, because it saves disappointment: Lecce's historic rivalry is the Puglia derby against Bari — and Bari were relegated to Serie C at the end of last season, after losing the play-off. So there's no Puglia derby on this season's schedule. What there is, is a very respectable home schedule. The first home match of the season is against Roma, in matchday two, at the end of August — the club itself publishes Monday, 31 August at 18:30, while the local press wrote Sunday, 30 August. This gap is typical of Italy, where broadcast scheduling is fixed late, so book a flight with a day's margin. The rest of the big home matches are already known by matchday but haven't yet been given an exact date: Juventus in matchday 8, Inter in matchday 16, Bologna in matchday 6 and Atalanta in matchday 13 in the first half of the season; and in the second half Napoli, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina — all at Via del Mare. The season opens on 23 August 2026 and ends on 30 May 2027, there are two midweek rounds — 28 October 2026 and 6 January 2027 — and the winter break starts on 27 December. A rule of thumb for planning: the date is enough to book a flight, the kick-off time only closes about a month before.
