About the stadium
The Amex, officially named the American Express Community Stadium, opened in 2011 in Falmer, just outside Brighton. Capacity is 31,876 seats, and during the 2026/27 season it rises to 32,500 as part of the third phase of a £40 million upgrade program. The four stands: the West Stand — the biggest, three tiers, home to the executive boxes; the East Stand, also known as the family stand; and the North and South Stands behind the goals, both much smaller. The attendance record was set on 12 August 2023: 31,872 spectators against Luton. What really sets the place apart is the philosophy behind it — the stadium was built with a near car-free policy, replaced instead by an adjacent train station and a shuttle network, and that makes match day here one of the most convenient in the league. The stadium also runs a fan zone the club presents as the biggest in the Premier League.
FAQ
How do you buy tickets for a Brighton match?
Tickets for Brighton matches at the Amex are sold first to season-ticket holders and MyAlbion+ members, then in general sale. A Premier League stadium with fewer than 32,000 seats means demand exceeds supply: the season-ticket renewal rate for 2026/27 stood at 90 percent, and the premium club is sold out five years ahead. The practical route is MyAlbion+ club membership, which also exists in an international version — it doesn't grant a ticket, only an early purchase window. The sale order the club published for the European match illustrates exactly how this works: first the premium club and season-ticket holders, the next day MyAlbion+ members, and only on the third day general sale. The realistic channel for latecomers is the official ticket exchange — a season-ticket holder who isn't attending returns the seat and it goes back on sale at the regular price; its use has jumped 409 percent since 2022/23. Warning: the club aggressively blocks tickets bought through unofficial channels — in one match 285 tickets were blocked and 12 season tickets were cancelled. TikTik secures tickets for Brighton matches through proper channels.
How do you get to the Amex?
You get to the Amex by train to Falmer station, less than a five-minute walk from the gates. This is the good part: the stadium has its own train station. From Brighton central the ride is nine to ten minutes, with about four trains an hour on match days, and from Lewes just about seven minutes. And here's the most important point: anyone holding a Premier League match ticket gets free travel on trains and buses within a defined zone — from three and a half hours before kickoff until three and a half hours after the final whistle. Brighton and Lewes stations are within the zone; anyone coming from further away buys a ticket only as far as the zone boundary — Haywards Heath to the north, Worthing to the west, Eastbourne to the east.
Is there parking at the Amex?
Almost not at all — the Amex runs only two park-and-ride lots, free with a match ticket. Parking here is very limited, and deliberately so. The two lots are Mill Road with 450 spaces, and the Brighton race course with 700 spaces, about twenty minutes from the stadium. Spots are allocated first-come first-served, so it's worth arriving early. Parking right next to the stadium exists in small numbers and by advance booking only, in three lots, the furthest of which is about a ten-minute walk away, at a rate of about £20 per car. Around the stadium a residents' parking scheme is in effect and there is no street parking. The club also runs its own buses, free and by advance booking, from collection points in the area. Anyone renting a car should assume in advance that they won't be able to park there.
How do you get from Israel to a Brighton match?
For a Brighton match you fly to London, and from there take a train to Brighton — about 58 minutes from London Victoria. The journey is especially fast on the Southern and Gatwick Express fast trains; from London Bridge with Thameslink it's about an hour and a minute. In Brighton you change to a short train to Falmer station, ten minutes. A special advantage: Gatwick Airport sits right on the line between London and Brighton, so anyone landing there can reach Brighton directly without going through central London at all. And Brighton itself is a charming seaside town well worth staying in.
Does an Israeli need a visa to fly to the UK for the match?
Not a visa, but yes an entry authorization. Since 8 January 2025, Israeli citizens have been required to have a UK ETA. The cost is £20, it allows multiple entries and is valid for two years or until the passport expires - whichever comes first - and permits a stay of up to 6 months per visit. You apply on the official website or the UK ETA app. The response usually arrives within a day, but you should allow up to three working days, and you must not fly before the authorization has been received by email.
Where's the best place to sit at the Amex?
The North Stand at the Amex is the loud end and the recommendation for anyone seeking atmosphere. That's where Brighton's vocal fans sit, and the club is actively reinforcing it: safe standing with rail seats was introduced there in 2025, and for the 2026/27 season it's being expanded — the season opens with safe standing from row R upward, and from October 2026 it expands further to rows I through Q in certain blocks. In addition, a new premium area described by the club as having a "pub atmosphere" is opening in the North Stand, for home fans only. The West Stand is the main and most comfortable one, and the East Stand is the family stand. Away fans sit in the South Stand, in an allocation of about three thousand seats — relative to the stadium's size, among the largest in the Premier League.
What's special about Brighton?
The 2026/27 season is Brighton's 125th and the first with European football at the Amex since 2023/24. The club was founded in 1901. Brighton is the Premier League's smart-model story: a club that was once in the fourth tier and without a stadium of its own, rebuilt around data analysis and scouting players before the market discovers them, and today consistently finishes in the top half. Coach Fabian Hürzeler, among the youngest in the Premier League, arrived in summer 2024 from Germany's St. Pauli, finished eighth in each of his first two seasons, and on 6 May 2026 signed a long-term contract extension until June 2029. The nickname: The Seagulls, named for the seaside town.
What's Brighton's big match in the 2026/27 season?
Brighton's big match is the M23 derby against Crystal Palace at the Amex, 17 October 2026. This is the club's sharpest rivalry, and the match is played on a Saturday at 15:00, with the return leg at Selhurst Park on 15 May 2027. But before that comes a historic moment: the European home match, on Thursday 27 August 2026 — the return leg of the Conference League playoff. Eighth place in the league earned the ticket through a rare chain: Manchester City won both cups but finished second, so the two European cup places trickled down the table all the way to eighth place. Brighton opens the league at home on Sunday 23 August 2026 at 14:00 against Aston Villa. Also at the Amex: Arsenal in September, Manchester United on 2 January, Manchester City on 23 January, and Liverpool in the season's last home match.
