Villa Park Guide — Matches, Tickets and Tips
Villa Park is the stadium of Aston Villa in the Aston neighbourhood of Birmingham, and the home of the Premier League club since 1897. With us you can order tickets to Aston Villa home matches at Villa Park throughout the 2026/27 season, from October 2026 until May 2027.
About the stadium
Villa Park has 43,205 seats, and it is the 11th largest stadium in England. Aston Villa moved here in 1897, to a sports ground named Aston Lower Grounds. The ground was part of a Victorian amusement park, on land that had previously belonged to the Aston Hall estate from the Jacobean period.
Over the years the stadium has undergone several stages of renovation and development. Today it has four stands: the Holte End, Trinity Road Stand, the North Stand and Doug Ellis Stand. Until 1914 a cycling track surrounded the ground, and regular cycling competitions were held there as well as athletics competitions.
A stadium of big matches
Villa Park has hosted 55 FA Cup semi-finals, more than any other stadium. The England senior national team played 17 international matches in it. The first was in 1899 and the last in 2025. In 1999 the last final in the history of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was held here. In 2012 the stadium hosted the Community Shield match, because Wembley was occupied by the Olympic football tournament final.
Not only football: concerts, boxing matches and international rugby matches have also been held at the stadium, both rugby league and rugby union.
The North Stand in the 2026/27 season
Aston Villa is rebuilding the North Stand, and Villa Park's capacity will grow from 43,205 to more than 50,000 seats. The updated plan, published in April 2025, retains the stand's existing structure and reuses it. Preparation work has already begun, and the plan is for the North Stand to be closed throughout the 2026/27 season. Completion of the renovation is planned for August 2027, for the start of the 2027/28 season.
